Modular Spaces that Put Accessibility First Without Compromising on Design

Although accessibility is still too often treated as an afterthought, resulting in rigid, impersonal environments, SnapCab makes it a core priority.

Its mission is clear: to design inclusive workspaces where everyone feels comfortable, respected, and welcome, regardless of physical ability.

SnapCab’s modular rooms stand out for their modern design, warm atmosphere, and user-centred details, and they are fully compliant with ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) standards. Adopted across a variety of sectors – from Fortune 500 corporations to public institutions and universities – they have earned international recognition for both innovative design and social impact, receiving prestigious honors including Best of NeoCon®, the Good Design® Award, the Fast Company® World Changing Ideas Award™, the Architecture MasterPrize™, and the European Product Design Award™.

A Human Approach to Accessibility

Far from cold, standardized spaces, SnapCab prioritizes simplicity, comfort, and emotional resonance in its interiors. Materials play a central role in creating this welcoming, accessible environment. With this in mind, the company selected Formica® surfaces, renowned for durability, aesthetic appeal, and technical performance.

Among the chosen finishes are Sail White (463) laminate with a glossy texture that doubles as an integrated dry-erase board, and Earthenware (8241) laminate with a matte finish that visually warms the interior walls. Adjustable work surfaces are made from Formica® Compact Beige Elm (5794), while the exterior cladding features Beige Elm (5794) high-pressure laminate (HPL) for a cohesive, elegant look.

Each material was selected not only for technical qualities such as wear resistance, ease of maintenance, and light weight, but also for compatibility with SnapCab’s modular, dismantable, and mobile systems. The fact that these surfaces are pressed in Canada adds a further advantage: a reduced transportation footprint and fast, reliable production lead times.

“SnapCab’s accessible rooms go far beyond compliance. They reflect genuine care for the user. Thanks to Formica, we’ve been able to create a thoughtful, modern, and emotionally engaging space for everyone,” says designer Carla Bostock.

Spaces Designed to Evolve

One of the major advantages of SnapCab rooms is their adaptability. Their modular construction allows panels to be removed, replaced, or updated without rebuilding the entire space. This flexibility enables organizations to respond to changing needs or updated accessibility standards while preserving aesthetic and functional consistency.

Each room incorporates key elements to ensure true accessibility: flush thresholds, widened doors, optimal acoustic comfort, visual privacy, and robust, hygienic materials suited to high-traffic settings.

The Formica Group is proud to see its products contributing to intelligent, inclusive environments. SnapCab rooms are more than ‘accessible’ in the regulatory sense; they embody a genuinely human vision of inclusion, creating spaces where everyone can focus, collaborate, or simply unwind in settings purpose-built for well-being.
